History

    

Educatus, Mixed Choir of Pedagogical University of Cracow, was founded in April of 2000 by Adam Korzeniowski, conductor and artistic director. The group embraces students and graduates of Pedagogical University and other academies from Cracow. The main goal of the choir is to perform choral music of various epochs.

The choir prides on representing Pedagogical University during various concerts, festivals, and contests, both within Poland and abroad. However young the group may seem, they have succeeded in performing together with the Radio Symphonic Orchestra of Cracow, Opera Orchestra of Cracow - in the series of concerts entitled VIVAT MUSICA!, organized under auspices of Pedagogical University. Educatus have taken part in Teaching Concerts organised by the Department of Early Education, and performed in the auditorium.

Educatus is a four-time winner at Malopolska District Choir Contest. In 2004 the group won "Zloty Dyplom" at The 8th International Choir Contest in Riva del Garda (Italy) and the silver medal at 7th all-Polish Choir Festival Cantio Lodziensis.

In 2005, Educatus won the GRAND PRIX at the 7th Malopolska District Choir Contest in Niepolomice. In 2006 the choir took part in and won the 3rd prize at 1st all-Polish Festival Cantate Domino. In the same year they won two silver awards at Academy Choirs International Festival in Pardubice (Czech Republic).

In 2007 the choir succeeded in winning the Grand Prix, and award for best interpretation of the compulsory piece at 16th all-Polish Christmas Songs Festival in Myslenice. In the same year, Educatus won the gold medal in the mixed choirs category, prize for the best foreign choir, and prize for the best interpretation of sacral music piece at Academy Choirs International Festival in Banska Bystrzyca in Slovakia. Also at the same contest, Adam Korzeniowski was awarded the prize for the best conductor.

In 2007, Mixed Choir Educatus in cooperation with Tivon Chamber Choir fromIsrael, Camerata Academica Freiburg, and Freiburger Kantatenchor from Germany took part in an international music project called "Ku Wspólnej Przyszłości". In October of 2007 Educatus won the first prize in the mixed choirs category, and honourable metion for the best interpretation of the contemporary piece at 2nd Rybnicka Jesień Chóralna.

Mixed Choir Educatus have performed in France, Switzerland, and Italy, where they had the honour of part taking in the mass in St. Mark's Basilica in Venice.
