All translators make errors.

Translation errors appear due to any or all of the following reasons:

linguistic incompetence - the translator failed to understand a word or phrase of the source text or to correctly write in the target language;
cultural/pragmatic incompetence - associated with the lack knowledge (cultural, scientific, etc.).

Some errors are unavoidable, especially when committed in a situation of untranslatability (see next section).
